It's Friday

Verse of the Day:
"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." John16:33

Today is Friday and that means date with DH! We haven't been out of the house kid free since our anniversary. I'm so excited. We are going to see a movie and have a quick dinner thanks to someone DH works with!

I was browsing Facebook this morning which I usually do and came across an article that I think you will find interesting. Just when you think you have heard it all...for real! You can read "State Says American Flag Violates Law" here. I really found this disturbing! If we can't erect an american flag without offending someone then what has this country come to? It's bad enough we can't say prayers or put up a Nativity scene for fear the God haters will get offended. Speaking of, did you know by not letting us do that they are in turn forcing their own religion down our throats? I mean really, they are. That is a religion! Anyway, that is my rant for they day.

I am off of here to do some cleaning and feed the girls some lunch. I hope everyone has a blessed day!

Thankful Thursday

Verse of the Day:
"I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers," Philemon 1:4

I want to thank God for my friends today! Sometimes I feel like I get overlooked because people think I am just gonna be there no matter what and that is true, to a degree! I think sometimes we get so caught up on trying to please certain people or trying to give them all of our attention so they don't get offended that we overlook those who care about us the most. We shouldn't have to work so hard. A true friend is there without us having to give them MOST of our time. When we neglect our true friends though and put them on the back burner then eventually they are going to feel as though they are not important.

There are going to be a lot of changes this coming year on my part. I am not going to work so hard.

Today I am thankful for those who are there for me!

I am off to run some kid free errands. Hope everyone has a blessed day.

My Kids are Going Stir Crazy...

Verse of the Day:
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28

My poor girls are going stir crazy I do believe. The Bug is normally in school so she is used to interaction on a daily basis with kids her age. She really doesn't have too many her age outside of school. They are either older or younger. She still has another week before she goes back to school. I am hoping I last that long hahaha.

I  made some more Peanut Butter Bon Bons yesterday for a friend and tried a slightly different recipe. My own of course. I think they turned out really really good. Much easier to work with. I will post the recipe in my recipe tab later today.

Nothing much on the agenda for today. We will probably take the girls for a walk after naps. Tomorrow is gym time for me and a friend! Going to a spin class at 5 I think. I need to get in shape for the summer.

I hope everyone is enjoying their holidays. Have a blessed day. Catch ya tomorrow.

What We Did for Christmas

Verse of the Day:
"Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name." Psalm 103:1

I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas. I know we did. On Christmas Eve we had some friends over for dinner. We had White Chicken Enchilada's and the kids decorated shortbread cookies. I will post both recipes to my recipe tab sometime today. It is also tradition for us to let the girls open one gift on Christmas Eve which they did.

On Christmas Day, it was just me and my little family. We had a lazy day at home. When we woke up I cooked some yummy Monkey Bread with caramel sauce for Breakfast.
Always a hit with my DH and me of course :) Once breakfast was in the oven we let the girls open gifts!

This year I got a Keurig and some new dishes! Also this year I wanted to surprise my husband. He is a PC gamer so I am always getting him something for his computer and always guesses what it is so I let him open it early. I didn't want that to happen this year so thankfully, I got an email from ticketmaster about one of my DH's favorite bands that is going to be touring which is very rare so of course, I got tickets!! I wrapped it in a biggish box and put it under the tree. He was so surprised and very pleased when he opened his gift.

I cooked Christmas dinner later in the evening of course. We had a fantastic ham along with some simple sides and an apple pie for dessert! The girls wanted to fix some birthday cupcakes for Jesus but I didn't get that far so since The Bug is out of school for the rest of the week, that is what we are doing one day this week :)

Be on the lookout for a review/giveaway from My Memories there will also be a discount codes for all my readers. I hope everyone had a very blessed Christmas and hope you have a Happy New Year. God Bless.

Merry Christmas Everyone

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6

I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and remember the reason for the season and that is to celebrate Jesus Christ!

Peanut Butter Bon Bons and Chocolate Fudge

Verse(s) of the Day:
For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Matthew 25:35-40

Christmas is fast approaching and of course being a military family funds are limited SO for my daughter's teachers (she has 4! Yes 4!) and bus driver and bus aid this year we decided to do candy. I mean how can you go wrong with candy?

The first thing I decided to make was PB Bon Bons. They are also called buckeyes and chocolate peanut butter balls. I LOVE these things but this is the first time I have made them. They are super easy to mix up but I am gonna warn you they are a pain in the tookus to actually assemble!!

What you will need:
1/4 Cup or 2 ozs of Cream Cheese softened
1 1/2 Cups of creamy Peanut Butter (you can also use crunchy if you want more texture)
1 cup of Graham Cracker Crumbs
1/4 tsp of Salt (this is optional)
5 Cups of Confectioners Sugar
2 sticks of Butter (real butter not margarine) melted and cooled
12 ozs of Semi Sweet or Bittersweet Chocolate

Make the Filling:
In a bowl with an electric mixer beat the cream cheese and PB until blended. Add the graham cracker crumbs and beat until mixed. Add the sugar and butter and on low speed at first beat until sugar is not floating around on the top :) Then increase speed and mix until it is all combined. Scrape the bowl and mix again until combined. The mixture is going to be dry and very sturdy. This is perfect for shaping.

Make the chocolate coating:
Melt the chocolate either over a double broiler on the stove or in the microwave. Follow the instructions on the package if using the microwave.

Assemble the candies:
Line a pan or pans with parchment paper or tin foil. Take out slightly more than a tablespoon or you can use a small scoop, and roll them into a ball in your hand. Place them in the pan and repeat until all candies are rolled out. This is very time consuming! The candies can sit close to each other but make sure they are not touching. At this point I put them in the fridge for a bit because they are easier to roll once they are cool BUT you can skip this step if you are in a hurry. (if you do decide to let them get cool in the fridge be sure to wait and melt the chocolate when you are ready for it)

Using a fork or large skewer roll each candy until fully coated with the chocolate of if you want it to look like buckeyes make sure you leave just a small portion of the candy at the top uncovered. Place them back in the pan and repeat until all candies are coated.

Chill for 30 minutes in the fridge or until chocolate is set.

These will keep about 3-7 days in the fridge or 6 months in the freezer if they even last that long. This recipe was taken from several recipes that I found online. I took the best elements of each and combined them so this is PARTIALLY something I put together.

Now for the chocolate fudge. I wish I could take credit for this one but I can't. It is the classic Carnation Evaporated Milk recipe that my husband adores! I have tried several and this is his favorite. You can find the recipe here.

I did the milk chocolate version for Emily's teachers but if they sell the chip you can make that flavor of fudge :) I will be making Mint Chocolate fudge for a couple of my friends this year!

Well, the buckeyes and fudge are setting up in the fridge and I am off to feed my Bear lunch and then nap time!! Hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and remember the reason for the season and that is Jesus Christ :)

Thank you Midget Momma for the help :)

Purex Laundry Detergent Review

I am always on the search for a new laundry detergent that is not only effective but won't break the bank. I received the new Purex Triple Action in the mountain breeze scent to review. The first thing I did of course was to open it up and smell it and it smells so good!

Now I have 2 little girls as most of you know so I am always washing clothes and almost always having to get stains out of clothes. Marker for one with my 4 year old being in school this year. I washed my first load of clothes with my bottle of Purex Triple Action and was pleasantly surprised. The marker came out of my daughters clothes and I didn't even pretreat. I usually have to. Not only did the stains come out easily, the clothes smelled so good. My 4 year old even said that it smelled so "yummy."

Another great thing about this detergent is it will work in ALL machines. That is right even the high efficiency machines.
I am now a convert! I love it and for now, I am sold on Purex Triple Action.
